Equilibrium Baltimore Class & Studio FAQs

New to Equilibrium? Already part of the EQ community but have a question about your booking? We’ve got you.

Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about classes, cancellations, late arrivals, what to wear, Open Pole, and contacting us.

How early should I arrive for class?

We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes before your scheduled class time. This gives you time to check in, change if needed, use the restroom, and get settled before class begins.

Please make every effort to arrive on time. Many of our classes build progressively, and arriving late may mean missing important warm-ups, safety instructions, or foundational movements.

What happens if I'm late?

Our grace period depends on the time of day:

  • Morning classes: 5-minute grace period

  • Afternoon and evening classes: 15-minute grace period, depending on the instructor

If you arrive after the applicable grace period, you will not be admitted and will forfeit your class credit.

Because safety comes first, we can't always guarantee admission once instruction has begun—even if you arrive within the grace period. Admission remains at the discretion of Equilibrium staff and instructors.

Running late? TEXT us at (410) 827-1470.

What is your cancellation policy?

Plans change—we get it! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 6 hours before your scheduled class time. You may reschedule early cancellations to another class. If you cancel within 6 hours of class or do not attend, you will lose the class credit. We do not issue refunds for missed classes, late cancellations, memberships, packages, workshops, events, or drop-in purchases.

Can I transfer my class to another day?

If you cancel early—at least 6 hours before class—your class may be rescheduled. Once you're within the 6-hour cancellation window, you forfeit the class credit.

I booked the wrong class level. Can I transfer my registration?

Please carefully review class levels and prerequisites before registering. Classes labeled Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or that list specific prerequisites are intended for students who already have the required foundational skills. If you're unsure about your level, TEXT us at (410) 827-1470 BEFORE booking. We're happy to help you choose the right class.

Registering for a class above your current skill level does not automatically qualify you for a refund, credit, transfer, or reschedule. For safety, instructors may ask students who don't meet a class's prerequisites to sit out certain skills or stop participating.

Do I need experience to take a class at Equilibrium?

It depends on the class! We offer beginner-friendly classes and classes designed for students with previous experience. Look for words like Beginner, Intro, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced when registering. If a class lists prerequisites, please make sure you meet them before booking. Not sure where you belong? Text us at (410) 827-1470 before registering.

What should I wear to pole class?

For most pole classes, shorts are recommended because exposed skin helps you grip the pole. Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. As you progress into skills that require additional points of contact, having your legs uncovered becomes increasingly important. Please remove jewelry before class.

What should I wear to aerial yoga, aerial hammock, or Lyra?

Wear form-fitting clothing that covers the backs of your knees and underarms. Leggings and a fitted top are great options. Please remove all jewelry before class and avoid clothing with zippers, buckles, or sharp embellishments that could damage our equipment.

Do I need knee pads?

For floorwork, heels, and other dance-based classes that involve movement on the floor, knee pads are strongly recommended. Forgot yours or don't have a pair yet? You can buy knee pads at the front desk.

What should I wear to mobility, yoga, or conditioning classes?

Comfortable athletic clothing is perfect. Bring a water bottle and come ready to move. For mat-based yoga and mobility classes, the class description will let you know if you need to bring anything else.

Do I need to complete a waiver?

Yes. All participants must have a completed Equilibrium Baltimore liability waiver on file before participating in classes, open pole, private events, or other movement activities at the studio.

What is Open Pole?

Open Pole is dedicated time for independent pole practice. It is not an instructor-led class. No instructor teaches tricks, provides spotting, or leads a structured class during Open Pole. Use this time to practice skills you've already learned, condition, review combinations, work on transitions, or simply enjoy some independent movement time.

Open Pole is also not a time to teach other students. We love that our community supports and encourages one another, and a quick assist or friendly reminder is fine. However, participants should not teach tricks, provide ongoing instruction, spot skills, or effectively lead another student's practice. Anything beyond a small assist creates additional safety and liability concerns and should be left to an Equilibrium instructor during an instructor-led class.

Can I teach myself a new trick during Open Pole?

Please be mindful when attempting new movements. Open Pole is not the appropriate environment to attempt unfamiliar or advanced skills that require instruction or spotting. Stay within your current skill level and save new or unfamiliar skills for an instructor-led class.

By attending Open Pole, you acknowledge the risks associated with independent pole practice and accept responsibility for your participation.

Do I need to clean my pole after Open Pole?

Yes, please!

Everyone participating in Open Pole is responsible for cleaning their pole and surrounding practice area after use. Help us leave the studio ready for the next person.

Can I play my own music during Open Pole?

Yes—with one important rule. You may add songs to the studio's Spotify Jam, but guests may not connect personal phones or devices directly to the studio stereo. Ask the front desk for the Spotify Jam QR code, scan it with your phone, and add your music to the queue.

Please remember that Open Pole is a shared space, so be considerate of everyone practicing.

Can I call the studio?

Please don't call—we're a text-first studio. The best ways to reach Equilibrium Baltimore are:

  • TEXT: (410) 827-1470

  • SOCIAL: DM us on Instagram or other EQ social channels

  • EMAIL: Reply directly to an Equilibrium email if you're contacting us about a booking or message you've received: info@eqbaltimore.com

Our front desk team may be checking students in, assisting instructors, or supporting classes, so we can't reliably answer phone calls. Text or DM us instead.

I'm running late. Should I contact you?

Yes! TEXT (410) 827-1470 to let us know. Please remember that texting does not extend the late-arrival grace period or guarantee admission. Studio staff may deny entry.

I have a question about my booking. What's the fastest way to get help?

TEXT us at (410) 827-1470. When texting about a booking, include your name, class, and class date so we can help you faster.
